  • This listing should provide answers to some more common questions.

How do I let someone know I've posted for them?
The easiest way would be to ping them by writing @player in your post. Keep in mind that if you edit in a ping, they won't get it; it only triggers on the initial post. Most players will have threads watched by default, so this is only really important for the first post of a thread.

What timezone does the site run in?
The site runs in pacific time (GMT -8), and events and announcements will be using that if not otherwise specified.

What do I do when I've finished a thread?
Replace the 'open' or 'closed' tag with the 'finished' tag.

How many characters can I have?
Starlit Avenue doesn't limit the number of characters you can have, or place any requirements for making new characters. We only ask that you be reasonable with your characters, and try and be up to date with your existing threads before making new characters.

What are Advantages and Disadvantages? Where can I find them?
Advantages and disadvantages are the words that we use for the abilities and weaknesses held by the supernatural in our setting. They act as shorthand, giving you the ability to quickly parse what a given character is capable of at a glance. You can find the list of advantages and disadvantages in the glossary, either at the top of the forum or by clicking here.

    Can I play a canon?
No. We are an original roleplay and do not allow canons from other settings to be played. Likewise, you cannot play canon characters from real world mythologies, such as Zeus or Gilgamesh—you may play original characters based on the ideas of real world mythology however.

Can I play an OC from another series or fandom?
We do not allow fandom OCs. This would include a Naruto-style ninja, a sailor scout, etc. You are free to be inspired in broad strokes (a character who fights hidden monsters is not a concept original to Sailor Moon), but it should not reference fandom-specific concepts or elements.

Are there any kinds of abilities that aren't allowed?
No ability can break the setting, and that includes breaking the fourth wall.

    Can my character be immortal?
A character being unable to die at all would be a core ability, but a character who is immortal in the sense that they do not die of old age (or age at all) can just be so. You can note that in their flavor section, or in their history, but it isn't considered an ability because it does not affect the setting at all.

What if I don't want to play a specific character anymore?
If you are interested in archiving a character, please post in the moderator requests sticky, or the #mod-request channel on discord. Archived characters can be restored at any time.

How do I delete a post?
By default, members on Starlit Avenue cannot delete their own posts. If you've double posted or need something deleted, please post in mod request.
