Material Sacrifice

Minor Example: Destroying a handful of quartz, or your favorite pen.
Major Example: Burning the wood of an old growth tree into a large pyre or an object from someone's childhood.
Momentous Example: Destroying a one of kind vintage oil painting, or a wedding ring.
Using magic requires the destruction of valuable objects, generally connected to a specific theme or type. The value can be material or sentimental.
