Anne's family, the Skjeggestads, have been around Oregon practically forever. Originally from Sweden, they made an unbelievable fortune through a lumber company which the family maintains ownership of. The family have been heavily involved with the town since its resurgence in the early 20th century and are something of a part of local history. What most residents of Polaris Pass don't know is that the dignified, old money Skjeggestads also happen to be active practitioners of runic magic and still engage in Norse pagan rituals. Rituals such as binding an elemental spirit to each heir at birth to ensure their awakening at a young age.
Anne herself is the current heiress of this family. As a result all she has ever known is comfort, wealth, and influence. She's also only ever known cold, considering she has an ice spirit magically stapled to her. Anne, however, tends to butt heads with her family around matters of tradition, something which has resulted in a tense back and forth between Anne and her father- Anne walks the line participating in family traditions, her father keeps her happy with gifts.
Anne's favorite gift of all was the one she got for her twenty first birthday- a KEM0, designed specially by her, paid for by her father. Anne immediately became obsessed with Elijah. After all, he was everything she'd ever wanted. Her father, however, was less enthusiastic about the gift.
