Appearance

- Body
- BUILD: Lean, pretty muscular and athletic. Has a very small bust that he usually keeps bound or hidden by clothing.
SKIN: Pretty pale. White snow-like blotches, no bigger than a quarter, dapple his freckle zones (bridge of nose, shoulders, etc) and increase with moonlight exposure, like reverse freckles. Visible to sleepers. Also has dapples of freckles in the same zones, but they're blue, appear normal toned to sleepers.

- Clothes
- STYLE: Wears a lot of hoodies and basic shit. Kind of grungy skater aesthetic, or super plain and unassuming mainstream masculine. No form fitting clothing unless binding. Has one or two pride pieces he wears exclusively at home.
PRESENTATION: 110% Masculine, like, he won't even wear pink right now. Binds his chest as a rule, including safe ones during exercise, or wears minimizers and loose clothing as a break.
- Other
- ACCENT: English accent, not too posh.
SCENT: Often smells vaguely of sweet peppermint or cologne.
MISC: Pointed ears, subtly pointed teeth/elongated canines. Invisible to sleepers.
Personality
Chill as Winter, No Pun Intended
Generally, Monty is pretty laid back. He could be described as having a somewhat “bored” or “tired” personality in surface-level social groups, as he isn’t very expressive and doesn’t show too much excitement or social energy very often. Monty is the calm voice in a stressful time, and he tends to keep a lid on his emotions. That said, Monty is far from lazy; he likes relaxing as much as the next guy, but only because most of his time is spent DOING something, especially something physical. Sports and activities take up much of his time, while his studies and time with his sister take up the rest. When Monty finally hits a beanbag chair in the Community Center, he simply can’t be asked to summon much brain power, alright? Sue him.

Responsible, Strong-Willed, and Integrous
Monty’s word is his (literal) bond, and the kids in Polaris Pass might be hard-pressed to find a peer as diligent as he is, or with as much integrity in the face of large responsibilities. When Monty commits to something, he sets his mind to it, and when he does that, it gets done. Monty is good at prioritizing, and often chooses work over play, family over self. His responsibilities, across the board, are taken seriously, lest that’s the promise he made to french braid his sister Briddy’s hair at 6AM or the promise he made himself to stick with her no matter the cost to himself. Though Monty’s passion is in athletics, he nevertheless prioritizes completing his schoolwork first, which can be a struggle sometimes with his dyslexia; due to willpower alone, Monty is a B-average student, as his talent lies in the body. Beyond everything, though, Monty’s top priority is his loved ones.

Family Man, Warm for Once
Monty is a family man, with a strong sense of loyalty and protectiveness over those he loves and/or considers family. Despite his lack of a relationship with his mother, Monty is quite close to his father and adores his sister. Currently, they’re the only ones he’s truly close to. In general, the ultra-cool Monty Gray becomes attentive and affectionate, even warm, towards those with a home in his heart. He would gladly give up everything he’d ever owned or loved if it meant protecting his precious people. Right now, that means enduring his mother long enough for his dad to lift his sister from her grasp.

- Elemental Weakness (Ash/Smoke/Soot)
- Elemental Weakness (Electricity)
- Elemental Weakness (Fire)
- Sensitivity (Turmeric)
- Weakness (Caffeine)
- Weakness (Spider Repellant/Bug Spray)
- Core Advantage
- “Do you wanna build a snowman?”
Can freeze and melt ice, and freely convert ice to snow and back again. Can draw moisture from the air to create frost, freeze small areas of falling rain, and freeze lakes up to several feet solid by moving across them (in areas of 5ft radius per step/at a time).
- Core Disadvantage
- Has to eat double the amount of protein as a normal person, this portion exclusively from animal/insect sources. The fresher the better.
- Bonus
- Slightly nerfing his aversions. They are scent based instead of supernatural barriers; the reason Monty can’t get within 10ft of them is due to the potency of the smell. He could theoretically be forced to be closer, but would be overwhelmed. Because they are scent based aversions, sealing lavender/eucalyptus so scent can’t escape, or blocking Monty’s sense of smell, can dissipate the aversion.
However, essential oil versions cannot be sealed off or blocked out, as they are too potent. Furthermore, in addition to having a 10ft radius from unsealed lavender/eucalyptus, Monty also can’t enter a room that smells of lavender/eucalyptus (as with lit candles, oil diffusers, scented spray, etc) without developing a severe migraine.
- Nerfs and Flavor
- Flight
Looks a bit like he is being carried by the wind vs power-flying of his own accord, like a snowflake drifting along.

cw: emotional abuse mentions, bullying discussion, transphobia discussion, forced outing mention
Monty’s mother, Sorcha, was a “young” (250+) bug/ice-fire fae from Scotland, a bit inhuman and quite erratic and flighty, who fell in love with and entranced his father, Montgomery, a successful businessman from London. He was a sleeper until one of her pregnancy moods set the couch on fire, and somehow they ended up married. Monty was born and raised in London, England, afab, initially named with a feminine form of his father’s name (which Monty changed back to the original down the line). Monty knew from a young age that he was a boy, and figured out his identity at 9 years old with his father’s help. Having a trans sister in Polaris Pass, Montgomery was very supportive. Sorcha was not.
Shortly following this, Montgomery was able to transfer to NYC for work, and took the family with him. Monty attempted to present male at his new school with his dad’s help, but Sorcha outed him and promptly disappeared. Montgomery used this chance to obtain full custody of Monty and put him on a safe hormone treatment by age 11.
When Monty was 12, his mother showed up one day holding a toddler named Brighid (Briddy), and Monty loved her immediately. Despite an initial lie, it was discovered that Briddy was the product of a fling, but both were welcomed into the home anyway. Briddy was “the perfect daughter,” a fact Sorcha still lords over Monty. She cares well for Briddy minus her erratic bouts of flighty neglect, but is a right bitch to Monty. Montgomery is supporting Monty through this until they can find a foolproof plan to get majority custody of Briddy.
Meanwhile, sometime during those nasty pubescent years, Monty started getting bullied at school. A group of boys were particularly bad, and Monty absolutely threw himself into MMA lessons to be able to defend himself. He kept this to himself, not wanting to add to the mess at home. When he was 15, however, this group cornered him in a locker room and both sides got violent. Monty was able to break one nose in self defense, but things took a bad turn. Luckily, another kid came back to the locker room and got a coach to stop the situation. This ended up resulting in a short news scandal that was soon muzzled, and pressed charges, which resulted in convictions for his assailants.
Monty was promptly pulled from the school, homeschooled for the remainder of the semester, and enrolled in a private school for the next one. Rumors spread to this school too, though, and though Monty was safe, he was ostracized. Thus, Montgomery made the executive decision to transfer his business HQ to Portland and settle the family in Polaris Pass, following some heated reasoning with Sorcha. (Shortly before they left, he also obtained partial custody of Briddy, ‘so he could do all the paperwork instead.’)
Now, they have a nice house in Aurum Heights with Briddy and Monty enrolled in True North beginning in January 2022. Montgomery’s sister lives with her best-friend-turned-husband Charles a couple miles away, and Monty often spends time there with Briddy when his dad is away for business. They’re close to finishing the case against Sorcha and, hopefully, obtaining at least custodial majority.
