Nature’s Not-So-Little Assassin - Befitting of a marten, Setsuka can be a cold-blooded hunter and killer if pushed to it, sometimes playing with their prey, but often going for the kill without mercy.
Always Give Your 100% - Whenever he does something, Setsuka tries his hardest, be it studying, fighting, or surviving, he really commits to it. That includes things that he might come to regret later.
- Additional Information
- Usually someone pleasant to be around, warm with people he likes, cold and distant with those he dislikes, Setsuka has a bit of a “nerdy” side, studying manuscripts, watching videos, all when it comes to Japanese culture, but other than that he has not much in the way of curiosity. Overall, his tastes align more with oriental culture, except when it comes to music where he is more comfortable with pop rock.
Abilities
- Ability Format
- Spellcasting
- Advantages
- Enhanced Senses (Smell and Sight)
- Enhanced Attributes (Agility and Durability)
- Disadvantages
- Otherworldly Disruption (Animal Spirits)
- Spellcasting
- Spellcasting: Onmyodo
- Spellcasting: Transformation
- Core Advantage
- Dance of Fire and Ice - Setsuka has the ability to create, shape and control both fire and ice within 5 meters of him, and can cause either a cold fog or warm haze to spread within 10 meters. His fire and ice are completely harmless to him and will even dissipate if Setsuka falls unconscious. The color of his fire and ice changes according to his will as well.
- Bonus
- (Initial) Remove One Disadvantage
- Nerfs and Flavor
- Otherworldly Disruption (Animal Spirits) - Setsuka can see and interact with the spirit of animals that have passed away but are unable to move on, and often that catches him by surprise, distracting, confusing, or shocking him, as some spirits may show themselves carrying the proof of their demise on them. Sometimes they make contact.
- Setsuka can disable his own ofuda safely if they are within a few feet from him (a little over an arm’s length in distance).
- When Setsuka’s cruel side shows up one may see signs, such as a red mist building up, an ominous aura surrounding him, or animals reacting with fear.
- Spellcasting: Focus (ofuda) - Setsuka requires paper slips to use his spells and something to use as ink. Without them, he cannot use spells.
- Spellcasting: Onmyodo - Setsuka’s Onmyodo allows him to bind spirits of nature using the Godai to a duty as written in the Ofuda. The order can be something as simple as “Protect” or “Repair”, or something more complex like “Bring it back to me”. Whether the spirits can fulfill it or not depends on how complex the duty is, and the ofuda can always be manually removed if it can be located. A self-destructive order can be given, like “Burn” to have the Ofuda ignite, as well as a generative one like “Flow Water” to make it produce water, however those usually last no more than a few minutes after activated.
- Spellcasting: Transformation - By writing an order to “change” something on an ofuda, Setsuka can then attach it to something or someone to give them another shape while the ofuda camouflages itself to stay hidden. The effect lasts a few hours at most, and can be dispelled sooner by removing the ofuda if someone can locate it.

- Fuutenko Shrine in Polaris Pass. Unlike traditional shinto shrines, the office is a more typical american housing with an office room, there’s only four decorative stone lanterns lining the short path between the torii gate and the haiden (hall of worship), and the honden (main hall) fenced up behind the haiden. The ema board where people can make wishes is close to the haiden.
Although it is a shrine, it is not an actual holy ground, but does possess high concentration of natural magic energy.

History
- Date of Birth
- Unknown.
- Place of Birth
- Somewhere in Japan’s mountains.
Around 300 years ago, Setsuka was born as a normal japanese marten, living in the mountains with his mother and four siblings. One day, his mother left, chasing after another animal who tried to prey on him and his siblings. Living for themselves, the five marten kits left the den earlier than they should to hunt for themselves.
One day he saw an emaciated japanese wolf, which normally wouldn’t have bothered him, except for the fact he could see through the wolf and the wolf spoke to Setsuka in a language he could understand, telling him his mother was still alive and that she looked for her kits.
Setsuka returned to the siblings and they all spread across Japan to look for their mother, but one by one they passed away, except Setsuka, an unnatural change giving him more time to search for his mother. Yet, his life was claimed by hunters.
In every life he was reincarnated into, Setsuka was able to retain his memories, his intense desire to find his mother leading him to change, become an Itachi, blend with humans, learn from them, and perish from being hunted. This continued many times.
However in his latest incarnation, he was born already an Itachi in a village of other yokai, his mother in this incarnation recognizing soon that Setsuka was not exactly hers and still needed to find his mother once he grew older.
Unfortunately the village was attacked by a small group of ruffians, who assaulted the leading elder and threatened to kill him if he didn’t choose them an young to be their slave. Setsuka stepped forth and offered himself, begging them to not bother the village anymore. While their leader hesitated, they felt that Setsuka could have killed them where they stood, and took on his offer.
In the hands of the ruffians Setsuka suffered many kinds of abuse, even when he didn’t fight back, he always obeyed them. He believed they were afraid of him, wanted him gone, but were more afraid of what he could do if push came to shove.
Eventually, when he was in his mid teens, he was sold to someone he came to know as Kirikak, becoming her pet yokai, showing interest in her lessons about Japanese culture, anime and the like, being the most subservient, enduring all the abuse. For now in his mind he had only one thing:
“I need to live, no matter the shame I must endure.”
His chronicle would however continue, after Luminance and her allies came to free him and the others from Kirikak, and he would pursue a new future in Polaris Pass, having sworn loyalty to Shina Fuutenko.
