Signore was once a shapeshifting forest god capable of taking on the forms of any number of animals, but after first encountering modern humans- in the form of a raccoon- he lost himself in how easy it was to thrive on the things they discarded. It wasn't until decades later that Signore actually remembered who he was.
Well, partially. He regained his own ability to think and speak, but he had forgotten a very, very important detail- his name. Using a temporary name he stole from a frozen pizza box he was annihilating when he woke up again, Signore decided that since it was civilization that got him into this mess it would be civilization that got him out of it.
