Species: Tree-kin
Physiology:
Tree-kin are humanoid beings made of plant matter. Their bone structures are made of a hard wood, covered by layers of thick bark or vines to act as flesh, and foliage or petals grow at their heads, often resembling hair. Though they have no organs, their veins carry a shimmery golden sap that acts as their life-force. Tree-kin are fully adult when they emerge from their pods.

History:
Many years before the settling of Polaris Pass, a small comet that had been hurdling through space landed deep in the forests of the Cascade Mountains. The impact caused the rock to split open, and inside, there was a single tiny seed. This seed took root within the forest, growing into a large, pale-barked tree: the Mother Tree of the Tree-kin. The Mother Tree stood quietly in the forest for many years, remaining unnoticed and untouched. As Polaris Pass began to develop, a wizard who had moved into the area came upon the unusual tree and built a garden around it, setting up a home nearby.
Under the wizard's care, the Mother Tree thrived and its consciousness developed, learning from the wizard and the occasional guests he would host in the garden. Upon reaching maturity, the Mother Tree began to grow small pods in its branches. One of these pods grew so large that it dropped from the tree, and when it cracked open, the first of the Tree-kin emerged into the world.
