Students for Justice Reform (SJR) is a school club at True North Academy. Founded by former student council president Riley Keegan, their purpose as an organization is to agitate for changes to the justice systems they'll face in their lives. These include:
  • Criminal law / Court system reform
  • Police reform or abolition
  • Prison abolition
  • Detention abolition (yes, really)
Their organizational structure is largely horizontal and democratic, with the position of club president mostly being a formality - though so far, this is Riley's baby more than anything else. Formerly known as the Detention Abolition Club, the club's members voted in mid-October 2021 to rebrand. Their planned activities include:
  • Educating themselves and their classmates about issues with systems of justice or punishment
  • Organizing protests against detention
  • Organizing or attending protests / solidarity events
  • Being edgy anarchist kids to their hearts' content
Though originally a True North club, a sister club may be started at CSM under the leadership of Elizabeth Roseland. Riley intends to offer guidance and organize joint club meetings.

If you have a student at True North or CSM and you're interested in getting them involved in either branch of this club, make a post here and/or talk about it with me and/or jeffe on discord. Same drill if you have plot ideas involving the club.
