Abilities: Can shapeshift into a tetramorph whose mere presence can be harmful. Partial shifting into aspects of her true form. Flying. Omnilingual. Can interface telepathically with the internet / networks.
Situation: Has no home and very little personal property in the material plane. No income.

Core ability:
True Form - Ana can turn into a glowing creature with a multitude of wings and eyes, which also simultaneously looks like a bull, a human, a lion, and an eagle. The human eye has difficulty pinning down which parts of it look like which kind of creature; any part of her true form not actively being focused on will look different when next observed. Looking at her too much can be disorienting or headache-inducing. She has the physical capabilities of all four creatures while in this form, along with the ability to levitate and maneuver midair on a dime. This form's size can be anywhere between half or twice as large as her typical human form.

Ana's mere presence in this form can be harmful to anyone sensitive to holy energies. Her entire body, as well as air breathed by this form within 5 feet, behave like holy weapons in this form. Injuries sustained by her in this form are always minor, unless inflicted through incredible force or with unholy weapons / magics.

Her true form fills sleepers and the recently awakened with terror. It cannot be covered by the veil very well, and is therefore liable to cause awakenings or experiences later suspected to be vivid hallucinations in sleepers. Those not well prepared to see it often suffer from panic attacks. Being exposed to more than one panicking sleeper at a time in this form will cause her to be recalled to heaven instantaneously.

Her partial shifting can add aspects of her true form to her human form. This can enable forms such as: a winged human with extra eyes, a human with bull horns and cloven hooves, a human with lion ears and a tail, a human with a lion/bull/eagle head, or a human with an eagle-taloned finger to help her get into annoying packages. Her partial shifting does not make her presence harmful to some people the way her full true form can, and does not make her substantially harder to injure.

- Her restricted diet can best be sated by seeing love between others, experiencing love, or receiving love. She can eat food, but only if it's prepared or set aside for her as an act of love.
- Her particular brand of magical dependence is primarily satisfied with regular visits to heaven. If these are prevented for much more than a week, she'll most likely waste away and die. (Having her magic somehow drained out will also kill her per usual)

History:

Anaphiel's personal history stretches back almost as long as creation itself. They remember seeing some of the first humans and being excited for what those creatures might accomplish in their time on earth.

Much of her existence and purpose is shrouded in mystery, even to many of the much younger angels in the heavens. Such angels have varied opinions about her, her peers, and her philosophy, if she is acknowledged at all. Some find her so confounding that they assume she's either 'broken' or 'not a real angel.' This state of affairs can break her heart. She claims that this is a fairly recent development.

She has recently arrived in Polaris pass, taking particular interest in all the demon refugees from hell there.

SECTION SIX: History
Date of Birth: July 4, 1976

History:

Zain's mother was a Djinn, and his father was a human. Both were devout muslims. The three became refugees in Saudi Arabia after war drove them from their homes. Desperation turned young Zain to thieving, despite his parents' intense disapproval.

One day, Zain's abilities were observed, in action, by a member of the Eurasian crime syndicate that would soon decide to recruit him. He was promised opportunities that he could never enjoy from honest living in his situation, and he seized on those opportunities, leaving his parents behind. He doesn't know what happened to them. Zain would later become an incredibly useful asset to the syndicate. His abilities put him in high demand, as a thief, a spy, and an assassin. He would later learn to speak and read multiple languages so he could be more useful in more parts of the world. He learned a wide range of skills that made him even more useful, and made him quite a great deal of money - as long as he stayed in line, played along with the schemes of the shitheads in charge, and

As he grew older, he became more introspective, and less happy with his position in life. Despite all the money and comfort he had, he was beginning to feel disgusted with what he saw as the spiritual cost of doing his job.

Zain didnt know many details about Rizah's origins, but he knew enough. She was created by a shithead boss who liked sci-fi too much. He thought her creation was cruel - While he chose this life, she didn't have any choice but to live in it. His set of skills made him an ideal candidate to train her. Once Rizah entered his care, he quickly developed a soft spot for her, as well as a growing, gnawing desire to leave this life behind, taking Rizah with him and never looking back.

One day he learned about the plans to either scrap Rizah, or use her to breed her replacement. He also learned more details about the degree to which she'd been brainwashed into the life laid out for her. This was the last straw. It turned his pipe dream of fleeing to the United States into a reality.

After successfully fleeing with Rizah to the states, he was able to secure a home for them in a supernatural enclave in Oregon.

Trait One: Proud - Fweiu is proud of herself, her accomplishments, and her station in the clan. She has already proven herself; the only people whose opinions of her she'd trouble herself with are those who she has some reason to care about.
Trait Two: Conflict-Prone - Fweiu enjoys butting heads with people, whether it's a lively debate, or a sporting rivalry, or just creating a little bit of tension. This is usually all in good fun, in her mind. If she singles you out that means she likes you.
Trait Three: Easily Amused - Fweiu has lived most of her life isolated from human society; things most people would take for granted feel new and interesting to her; sometimes even thrilling.

Core ability:
Ice of the Rukt'In: Fweiu is capable of generating and exhaling magic ice. This ice is much harder and more durable than ordinary ice, and it absorbs so much heat that it seems to 'radiate cold' to a much greater degree than ordinary ice. It melts at a higher temperature than the boiling point of ordinary water. Non-Rukt'ins who attempt to magically manipulate this ice in any way (eg. telekinesis or elemental control) will find their efforts ineffective, though the attempt will start to drain the ice of its magic properties.

The ice typically loses its magical properties when not in Fweiu's presence for 1 hour.

Fweiu can create this ice with a magical breath attack, which is by far the fastest way for her to create it in her monster form. In her human form, this is only threatening at point-blank range, and could at most blind someone. Otherwise, she could create a cubic meter of Rukt'in ice given 30 minutes of focus. This time can be reduced with access to mundane ice or cold water, which she can transform into magical Rukt'In ice.

Nerfs and Flavor: Her Elemental Control (water) is less effective the farther the water is from being ice. She has a high level of control over ice and cold water, but struggles to control hot water or water vapor.

History:
Fweiu Rukt'in is a daughter of Eehol, the current chief of the renowned Rukt'in dragon clan. The Rukt'ins are ice dragons who colonized a portion of Antarctica several centuries ago in an effort to "live how dragons were meant to live," in Eehol's words. The clan is regularly involved in border skirmishes and prolonged conflicts with neighboring supernatural communities in Antarctica, all safe from the prying eyes of humans or the interference of the veil.

Fweiu's other parent won the privilege of mating with Eehol in a tournament to determine the fiercest fighter in the clan. Though Eehol had children with other partners, the dragons who hatched from the same clutch as Fweiu were always clear favorites. Of those, Fweiu distinguished herself through valor in combat, crushing not only the clan's supernatural foes in Antarctica, but also the leader of a rival dragon clan after a dispute between them and the Rukt'in's forty years ago. It is no secret that Eehol has been grooming Fweiu to be their heir. She has been traveling the world, involving herself in the clan's business affairs after receiving a formal university-level education. Rumor has it that Eehol's health is failing, and the clan will soon fall on Fweiu's shoulders.

The Rukt'ins are known to thrive in conflict, with Eehol often citing it as a key reason for their strength. Fweiu herself is an exemplar of this. Few would have expected the Rukt'ins to answer Tryphosa's call for an end to inter-clan killings. Even so, that letter brought Fweiu all the way up to Polaris Pass.

Most Rukt'ins live mostly isolated from the broader world, though they do have limited contact with the outside. The clan has substantial shares in several companies, using the resultant wealth to import various goods to their Antarctic enclave.

The Rukt'ins' lifestyle has made them both well-known and polarizing among dragon clans. Fweiu's exploits may have made her particularly famous / infamous to some.

Fweiu was named after the sound of the wind on the mountains when she hatched.

She's still gonna be a giant woman in her human form. Will have some scars from fighting in conflicts Eehol started. possibly some personal notoriety as well. Some who've heard of her might dearly want to be her, since she literally just goes big dragon mode and fucks things up on the reg.

Eehol's deal:

Fweiu has been to different parts of the world to get a broader perspective, but most of her people rarely leave. They've actually carved out a nice little place for themselves and have a lot of art and music and culture of their own. They like being giant lizards that play by their own rules and dont have to worry about veils or the laws of lesser beings.

Fweiu has lost siblings and friends to the conflicts her father likes to instigate. She's tired. Proud warrior race aspects of their culture makes this hard to admit or talk about.

Rukt'ins have some incomplete knowledge of the outside world.

Tryp's letter took a long time to reach them. Try mailing a parcel to a secret enclave in antarctica

History:
Samantha's family is Korean on father's side and Japanese on her mother's. Both of them are well-educated professionals. Her older brother became a doctor. She dropped out near the start of her third semester at Willamette, and later moved to Polaris Pass to get away from her family. They let her bring her cat, Jasper, since that pet had mostly been her responsibility since she was a kid.

Years later, her cat Jasper started talking to her. And informed her that he was actually a boy. And turned into a catboy. And set part of her old apartment on fire to make her recognize that he was, in fact, a magic talking cat, which is a real thing that it's possible to be. Since then, she's been becoming more and more aware of the supernatural - like apparently that couple she works for at this italian restaurant are wizards? With their help, and the help of other local supernaturals, she got help getting Jasper set up at True North, and got the state of Oregon to believe that she's Jasper's foster mother now.

She wasn't really ready to be a single mom, but she's doing her best. She still loves Jasper. It's just becoming a little hard not to lose her mind now that she knows reality is fake.

Trait One: Puts On A Cute Front - Maple spends a lot of her time presenting herself as cute, endearing, sometimes innocent, and maybe a little mischievous. This persona can be useful to her, but she also enjoys embodying it.
Trait Two: Rotten And She Knows It - Maple is aware that many of the things she's expected to do are morally wrong. She revels in being bad, to an extent. She'll push your buttons and commit petty crimes for fun. This is a side of herself she reveals to a trusted few, or when she needs to push someone away.
Trait Three: Does Not Fear Death - Maple has already faced death, and it wasn't really that big of a setback. She'll put herself in seemingly dangerous situations just to feel alive.

Maple has a chip in her brain that allows her to not only access the internet and other computer networks, but also back up most of her consciousness to a specialized computer system in the main NEK0 facility in Japan, to be implanted in or synchronized with clones of herself. This gives Maple the following capabilities:
  • Internet and phone network access similar to the "Walking Smartphone" advantage
  • Ability to circumvent most network security measures, given enough time and concentration
  • Commit certain pieces of information to her shared long-term memory with perfect accuracy
  • Synchronize her memories with the 1-2 other clones of herself that exist elsewhere in the world at any given time. Partial synchronization can be done over mundane networks, full synchronization requires a special device that she brings with her when she travels.
  • Have her memories and consciousness implanted into new clones of herself, giving her a form of immortality as long as the infrastructure is maintained

Core disadv: Maple and all of her clones contain a device that can add an extra layer of control to her beyond her under orders. This device tracks her, can induce pain, pleasure, or sleep, and can even vaporize her. Her creators, or a sufficiently advanced hacker, could trigger these effects remotely. Maple can trigger the device herself to vaporize her current body in the event of capture or compromise, and she is under orders to do so under certain circumstances.

Nerfs and Flavor:
  • There is a hierarchy of whose orders for Maple override those of others. Generally speaking, the more closely related one is to the company, or the higher up, the more their orders take priority
  • Maple gets high when using catnip and some related plants. The high lasts for about 5 minutes, after which she can't be affected for about half an hour.
  • Nobody else fully understands the contents of her consciousness database. It can't be audited.
  • One of her clones normally lives in Japan with one of the NEK0's original creators.

History:
Maple was made by the NEK0 company as part of an experiment to computerize human consciousness, making it possible to make a "back up" of someone's mind. Her brain and body were engineered to function alongside her implants, and she owes her life to that. Her 'sisters' were not afforded that luxury. So far, all of them have died or suffered greatly in the pursuit of her creators' immortality.

Maple continues to live and serve as an asset to the company, and to some of her creators in particular, who find her either especially interesting, useful, or alluring. They have taught her to obey and serve them, as well as to kill, intimidate, or kidnap for them - and she has become very good at all of these things. She sometimes serves as a gentle hand in re-training and re-educating repossessed or misbehaving nek0. She doesn't love her lot in life, but at least she's afforded more freedom and privileges than others of her kind.

Maple was sent to Polaris Pass because things are clearly going south there for NEK0 owners, and she has skills to help her figure out why.

She's a rascal who misbehaves. Likes to knock glasses off counters. Acting out makes life a little more bearable, and her rascally ways range from being tolerated to being endearing.

Hates thinking about the impact of some of her work.

Does a lot of lying and taking advantage of ordinary people for no other reason than it lets her feel like she has some kind of power over her life.

Clothes: Favors her clothes from Brilliance - odd, elegant asymmetrical black and white dresses, with accessories that sometimes match her eyes for a splash of color. She can sometimes be convinced to dress 'like a normal person.'
Other: The eye-spots under her eyes sometimes glow when she uses her powers. To sleepers, she has grey-blue eyes and platinum blonde hair.

SECTION THREE: Personality
Trait One: Emotionally Blunted - Lumi rarely feels or expresses any sort of strong emotion. Even when she does, it's muted.
Trait Two: Clever - Lumi understands politics and how to use people to achieve her goals. She even has a sense of humor, when she lets her guard down.
Trait Three: Walls Up, Showing Cracks - Growing up around hell politics, Lumi was trained to expect that everyone has an angle they're playing for. She's slowly learning this isn't true for everyone, and starting to grow more comfortable around others.

Quirk: She will absolutely infodump on you about her Interests, with minimal provocation. This is socializing, yes? Also, has substantial gaps in her knowledge of the surface world, though this does not distress her too much.

Core ability:
Lumi can conjure solid objects made out of hard light and move them with her mind. For example, this can include weapons, barriers, and platforms or handles she can use to fly or lift other people. These constructs have temporary weight and physical form, despite being 'made of light.' If broken, they will shatter like crystal before dissipating.
  • Constructs she makes with this ability do not resemble normal objects. They can look like they're made of faintly glowing translucent purple glass, or opaque and bright like a switched-on fluorescent bulb.
  • Constructs require concentration to keep intact, especially if they sustain impacts. Only one or two discrete objects can stay particularly durable at a given time.
  • She can fling smaller constructs with the force of a modern crossbow.
  • Lumi can only make constructs within 40 yards of her.
  • Larger and more complex objects would take much longer to conjure, would be much easier to shatter, and would require much more concentration to maintain. A dozen functional school desks would be near her limit, and it would take her about half an hour to make them.

Housing: Lives in the Palace of Brilliance in hell, and has chambers near Madeline's. On earth she mostly lives out of Jean's house.
Wealth: Theoretically rich, but most of her wealth is useless outside of hell.

History:
  • Luminance was born to a noble family in Brilliance, which is a place in hell.
  • Her lack of horns contributed to rumors about who her father might be - both her parents had horns, looking much like the other nobility in Brilliance. Theoretically, she should too.
  • She once wanted to grow up to be Luster Brilliance's lead advisor - which would have given her more real power than any of his brats.
  • She was away from the kingdom, studying statecraft and martial combat, when Glint Brilliance, Sazz Deceleus, and the Pit came to dethrone Luster, killing Lumi's family in the process.
  • Glint denied his direct involvement in the coup and pointed Lumi at Sazz like a missile, blaming him for her family's demise. She was never stupid enough to fully accept his story; she knew Glint had some responsibility for this. Still, she mostly blamed Sazz - Glint could never have done this without his help.
  • Madeline's arrival at the palace, and whispers of Glint's plans to arrange a marriage for the girl, presented a golden opportunity for Lumi. She had several plans, and contingency plans, to shepherd Madeline into the role of monarch, whether she stole her would-be husband's throne or her father's. Though she never expected Sazz to drop a coup directly into her lap, and that's precisely what he did by taking out Glint.
  • Her bet paid off, and she has her dream job now. She's even something like the queen's consort, and genuinely likes Queen Madeline now that Glint isn't drugging her. But why does she still feel dead inside?
