- Owns Ralsens; a small sensor technology company who operate out of Seattle, capable of designing and manufacturing state of the art sensors for biomedical applications.
- Approached by a Japanese project management consultancy looking to complete a project for a Biotech firm working in the field of gene editing to manufacture a bespoke sensor for a part of their process. Offering crazy sums of money to achieve something Michael felt they were easily able to achieve.
- An NDA was signed in order to accept the project, the detail similar to a top secret military contract but given the nature of the work involved, Michael felt it was reasonable; plus the money would help the company currently struggling to grow.
- In reality the consultancy firm and contacts are Nek0 employees using shell companies and false names to create distance between Ralsens and Nek0.

- Only Michael understands what is being created and to what end; the parts themselves are taken out of context thereby not involving anyone else with the understanding of what the project is.
- Parts are shipped from Seattle to Tokyo via air freight, once they make land in Japan they are sent to a warehouse in Tokyo with an agreement with another Nek0 shell company (Michael would know the warehouse address). Here they are picked up by Nek0 staff and taken to their facilities elsewhere in Japan to ensure their location cannot be traced by those outside the company.

- Due to Ralsens' success on its first project, Michael found himself becoming more involved with Nek0 projects and with the manufacture of sensors relating to the shock collar and insertable tracking devices among other elements. The nature of the projects allowed Michael to piece together an idea of what Nek0 was working on, and he did not like it; taking his concerns to the project manager at Nek0's shell company and threatened to break his NDA.
- The project manager responds by ensuring the needs of Michaels company are met financially in order for him to keep his mouth shut. He also opens up to Michael, stating that what is being created should not be considered human.
- To prove their point, a "prototype" product, Luna, is given to Michael with an agreement in place for what should be done to her.

- The agreement appears mutually beneficial however they do not tell Michael that Luna is also under orders to ensure Michael's needs are met, including physical and emotional. This provides the impetus for Nek0 to create blackmail through Luna, ensuring that Michael has an additional reason to not take the money and run. Nek0 also viewed it as an experiment of their own on manipulation.- Michael was led to believe Luna was some kind of human looking robot. Receiving something which appeared to be a human being, despite her initially machine like behaviour proved to be a shock. With his mindset that Luna wasn't human and with the subtle push given to Luna by Nek0, events were set into motion.
- In time, Michael began to feel guilty for what he was doing. As Luna's Nek0 programming wore off it became clear she was much more sentient than he had initially thought.
- Luna had outlived her usefulness, they had already gained enough evidence to blackmail him if they needed to so it was nothing to take her back and use her for further testing in their facilities in Japan until she was no longer of use.
- Realising Michael was struggling to cope, still requiring his expertise (at least in the short term) they agreed to take Luna back so he could continue to work for them without the guilt having Luna brought him.

- Nek0 agents took photographs of Michael's house which would potentially incriminate him under human trafficking charges. Michael was freed by a Nek0 agent after Luna had already removed her tracker. Unable to locate her, Michael is ordered to carry on as if nothing had happened, otherwise they would use the evidence and a clone of Luna to compel authorities to arrest him.
- Meanwhile, a hostile takeover of Michael's company has been set into motion from an obscure yet wealthy trust fund operating from Singapore.
- While Nek0 hopes to track down Luna, Michael is able to continue to live his life as normal.
