SECTION TWO: Appearance

Height: 5'11"
Body: Adranus is fit but not muscular, with a generally athletic look to him. He has dark skin, and overall he's relatively well cared for, taking care of his appearance in particular.
Face: Adranus has a neatly trimmed goat patch with a small matching soul patch. He has three piercings - matching lobe piercings in his left and right, and a helix piercing on his left ear with a small gold hoop.
Eyes: Adranus's eyes are unusually pale, often described as ice blue. When using his magic, the color fades, leaving his eyes looking pure white.
Hair: Adranus has brown hair kept shaved down at the sides and slightly longer on the top. It's naturally curly, and if he lets it grow it becomes an afro very quickly.
Clothes: Adranus's clothing tastes lean
unusual, somewhere between eccentric and high fashion. He wears a lot of jewelry (mostly gold), scarfs, badges, etc.
Other: Adranus has blocky geometric tattoos running from his shoulders down to the back of his hands on both arms.
SECTION THREE: Personality
Trait One: Sly. Adranus is the kind of man who primarily gets by using his wits. His magic and familiarity with academia are boons as well, but even without them, he'd do just fine. In another life, he easily could have been a grifter or a scam artist, but instead he has nobler intentions.
Trait Two: Strategic. Adranus looks at the big picture whenever possible, often making decisions that don't serve his immediate goals and instead take time to pay off in a satisfying way. He's patient, and he's willing to wait to see how the seeds he's planted blossom.
Trait Three: Generous. Adranus is well aware that he's lived a charmed life. His family's money is enough that if he didn't want to work, he could probably make ends meet simply with investments. Not content to sit on his laurels, Adranus instead spends his time giving back.
Quirk: Smiling comes easy, and Adranus almost always has a genuine one.

Core Disadvantage: Adranus is cursed. Leaving Polaris Pass will cause his eyesight to begin to fail. Within six hours, he's at half vision, and within twelve he's completely blind. Returning to Polaris Pass will cause it to recover at the same rate.
Bonus: The Narreos' have a sizable amount of wealth, and Adranus has access to it within reason. He's also made his own investments, and owns his own business.
Nerfs and Flavor: Adranus's tattoos are magic, and will light up to anyone who can detect it.
SECTION FIVE: Current Situation
Occupation: Adranus is a Notary, who specializes, off the books, in creating documents (IDs and otherwise) for the supernatural in order to allow them to blend in.
Housing: Adranus lives on the top floor of an apartment building in Aurum Heights.
Wealth: The Narreos family are very well off, and Adranus has benefited from that immensely. If he invested wisely and didn't go wild with his spending, he'd never have to work a day in his life.
SECTION SIX: History
Date of Birth: January 15th
Place of Birth: Everett, Washington
History: The Narreos' are a relatively modern family of mages, hailing most recently from Liberia. In the late 70s, the family relocated to Washington, making their fortune using savvy investments and a heavy helping of magic. Adranus was born not long after the family were settled, and enjoyed a pleasant, relatively untroubled childhood. He trained in magic, got an excellent education, and should have had a long and happy life.
Except, of course, for the prophecy. For the majority of his life, Adranus had heard the same message over and over:
Only with the bear will you see. It was enigmatic hogwash, but it showed up constantly: being whispered to him by confused psychics, barely even awakened. On electronic billboards. In fortune cookies. Just pervasive enough to tell Adranus (and his family) something was going on.
That something, it turned out, was going blind.
Adranus was barely twenty when his vision started to fail, fading bit by bit each day. Unawakened doctors were baffled, while awakened mages shrugged their shoulders and suggested a curse. Unable to find a solution, Adranus set out on a whirlwind tour of the world, seeing everything he could before he lost the ability to see it at all. When he returned to the states, he traveled around visiting friends, and it was there, more or less by accident, that he found his solution.
Polaris is located in the Little Bear constellation, and Polaris Pass was apparently the
bear of his prophecy. Spending time in the town improved his vision, but leaving caused it to degrade again. While Adranus could leave—for important events or otherwise—inevitably if he wanted to keep his vision, he had to return to the town. Rather than allow himself to see it as a punishment, Adranus accepted it for what it is: the best case scenario, given the circumstances.
He established himself as a notary on the unawakened side of things, and paid someone to add an extra message on his sign, visible only to the awakened. He specialized in producing paperwork, IDs and otherwise, to legitimize the presence of the supernatural in the town. He bought himself a nice loft in one of the buildings, and settled in, letting himself become a mainstay of the town using the connections his family had gathered.
