Spellcasting:
Mechanical Magic - Rade is capable of infusing mechanical objects with magic and giving them varying magical functions. Whatever function the object gains cannot fundamentally change its intended purpose. Rade's spellcasting focus are his tools, without them he cannot perform his magic.

Mortimer Mouse - Mortimer is Rade's artificially constructed clockwork mouse familiar. Rade constructed it during his college days and he infused a part of himself with it accidentally, giving it life.
Mortimer is sentient and understands English and Croatian, it can read and write but cannot speak. Mortimer chooses to go by it/its pronouns and it's about 10CM;4in tall.
Mortimer has the ability to change its shape into 5 different tools (hammer, screwdriver, wrench, utility knife, pliers) and it can act as a replacement spellcasting focus for Rade if needed.

Occupation: He owns a second hand store where he sells things he found in thrift stores and such and fixed. The store has a backroom open for awakened folks that has magical objects for sale.

Rade was born into a family with a long history of creating magically enchanced objects. Their focus was on handcrafting and making things from scratch and they considered themselves true magical artisans.
But from a young age it was clear Rade didn't possess the same gift as most of his relatives. No matter what kinds of things he made they didn't get infused with magic.
But then, when he was 10, Rade found an old Star Wars alarm clock from a thrift store. He bought it, but later discovered it didn't work. So, Rade decided to try his hand at fixing it. To his surprise it came quite naturally to him, and Rade was able to fix the clock in no time. And the following night Rade discovered something even more surprising; the clock was now magical, as it now went off anytime Rade started to have nightmares.
Rade's family wasn't as thrilled about this development. His abilities went against centuries old tradition. So, they discouraged Rade from practicing his craft. But Rade didn't listen; he instead tinkered with small machines in secret and slowly discovered the rules and limitations to his abilities.
Rade kept his secret for many years, until something went wrong. At 16, Rade was tinkering with a stereo, attempting to give it the function to always play sound at the optimal volume for the listener's current mood. Just as he was about to finish a sudden loud noise from outside made Rade lose concentration, and the stereo exploded. As a result of this Rade's family discovered his secret basement workshop, and he got injured and lost hearing in one ear.
Rade wasn't outright banished, but his family strongly encouraged he move out once he finished high school. Rade did just that, and moved to UK to study. He got a mechanical engineering degree and for most of his 20s he worked a normal job at an automotive company. But as his 30th year approached Rade decided to quit and instead try and earn a living with his passion; buying used mechanical objects and fixing them, with and without magic.
