Independent: Lonnie has taken care of herself from a very young age, and that experience has built her into a fiercely independent person. The very same trait, however, can make it hard to get close to her.
Thrill-Seeker: With more freedom and support than she’s ever had, Lonnie has a passion for adventure and new experiences. Let’s just hope this newfound wanderlust doesn’t blind her into naivety.
Intelligence: She’s never been the best student, but — and in part because she’s had to try so hard — Lonnie loves to learn. She quite enjoys academic pursuits and has a particular interest in the niche and peculiar. She’s very excited to be able to dedicate herself to these studies now.

Lonnie may not have any vampire shifting abilities, but she does draw power from twilight’s creatures. Through her core, Lonnie can temporarily channel the abilities, attributes, and senses of the following animals: cats, rats, and wolves. This can be anything from eyesight, to echolocation, to a loud howl, to even the ability to climb walls. One caveat is that she cannot grow any new major body parts, so no bat wings. She also can have up to 3 advantages (or similar) worth of features active at any given time. For example, a wolf’s smell, hearing, and speed; a cat's night vision, a rat's wall climb, and enhanced spd/reflex; a few minor physical enhancements (rat teeth & claws), a wolf's jump (relative to current size), a cat’s reflexes. Etc. The longer she keeps the upgrades, and the more often she swaps them out, the more tiring this ability is. It’s use is similar to physical activity in that sense, and can demand food, water, and rest.

Though not required to consume blood like her vampire cousins, Lonnie is still a dhampir, and the urge itself has not been entirely bred away. She can consume blood, and she does feel the urge to do so, especially in the face of exposed blood — even her own, sometimes. In times of hunger, she can even subsist off of blood entirely, but doing so brings her mentality closer and closer to that of a vampire’s bloodlust. Just because she controls the urge now, doesn’t mean the threat isn’t always lurking beneath the surface.

Lonnie has the unique ability of pulling ink directly out of shadow. This ability is relatively unlimited, but can only be done about a page at a time. She also can’t store the ink (except in a fountain pen for up to 1 hour), and once it’s been affixed to a surface, it’s permanent unless worn off or dispelled (works like henna on skin). The ink always takes the tone of the shadow she pulls it from, and she can use it to create text, art, etc. It takes a mix of motion and magic to apply it.

Lonnie lacks her mother’s full Mesmer ability, but she does have the ability to sway the will of others to some degree. It’s much more subtle than mesmer, though in turn has more subtle effects. She can’t command someone or erase memories, but she might be able to weasel out of a well-earned speeding ticket if she makes puppy eyes at the cop.

Avalon was the firstborn to a relatively young vampire named Poppy Edwards, one who fancied herself a manic pixie dream ghoul. Poppy was often a slave to her compulsions and other vices, and would sway between being very attentive, then abandoning Lonnie for periods of time. Quickly, Lonnie learned to take care of herself, relying on the support of neighbors and the periodic check in the mail.
When Avalon was 8, her mother disappeared for around a year and a half (to Amsterdam, Lonnie eventually learned), then returned with a baby named Eden. Poppy was around again for a while, flaky but present for the care of her infant. As Eden grew, though, Poppy's old patterns began to resurface, and Lonnie found herself caring for a toddler as well.
When Eden was around 6 and Lonnie around 14-15, Poppy disappeared for several months and eventually stopped sending money. Lonnie tracked down Eden's father, a recently disabled US veteran, and sent her to him in America. She denied the invitation to come with, citing someone had to look out for Poppy too. Several more months passed & things were finalized before Poppy returned, and she was livid when she did. Poppy cut all support to Lonnie, who ended up dropping out of school to support herself at 16.
Things were on and off for years after that with them. Each time, Poppy would disappear indefinitely and return with some new part of herself consumed by bloodlust, addiction, and illness. Lonnie did her best to support herself and care for her mom when she was around. She studied between crises for her forgotten GCSE's, and eventually passed quite well.
One night recently, Poppy limped back to Lonnie's house. She'd tried to feed on the wrong person and was staked. She died in Lonnie's arms. From there, Lonnie reached out to break the news to Eden, who hadn't seen either of them in years. During the call, Lonnie was invited to come to America to study. With nothing left to bind her to the UK, Lonnie accepted and came.
