Hey again, @member! As we mentioned in our last message, we have been working on adding more and more features to Starlit Avenue. Today we are introducing weather to Polaris Pass's Public ICC channels in a more official capacity. Currently weather is mostly handled on a case by case basis. You might introduce your character walking around during winter and reference falling snow. Were not getting rid of that. Rain though, can be a little problematic because in some ways it can limit the outdoors channels and we want to make sure there is some continuity between the channels when it comes to rainy or stormy weather.

So from here, mods will occasionally post a message in the #Plot-Spotlight channel that will set the weather for a given time period that will be reflected across the different channels. With this, we are also planning on utilizing hazardous weather on a larger scale. This includes heavy snowstorms or freak thunderstorms. The occasional Blizzard that gives our teenaged...

Hey again, folks. We're just four months away from the second annicersary of the site reboot, and we wanted to take this time to get a finger on the pulse of the community. How we're all feeling about the site, the setting, and where we stand. To that end, we've created another survey for you all. This one's simple; no long form answers or anything like that. Just some easy linear scale questions.

You can find the survey HERE. We'll leave it up as long as possible to gague where we stand and where we might improve to keep us pushing forward into new frontiers. Good morning Starlit Avenue! We're here with a community poll regarding a topic that ha recently become pretty active in our community: AI-generated art.

This is art that, rather than being drawn from scratch by a human artist, is created using an algorithmic program. The backend computing aspects of that process are honestly too complicated to get into in this post. But if you've ever used a web application like ArtBreeder or NovelAI, that's a good example of exactly what I'm talking about.

There's some controversy surrounding the idea of AI-generated art right now: ranging from concerns of how it affects the livilihood of human artists to the ways in which these programs utilize existing art without the permission of the artists whose work they train the AI with. It's a hotbed of philosophical, legal, and ethical topics.

Hey there Starlit Avenue!

As we're just a little under two months from the one year anniversary of our relaunch, we thought it was time to look at once again expanding our staff team. To that end, we are looking for new moderators to join Pallas, Romi, and Kada behind the curtain. With more dedicated staff, we can better run events, engage the community, and increase our advertising output to grow our member base.

Ability System Revamp

The Change
After soliciting feedback from the player base, we've gone ahead with a significant change to our ability system, specifically concerning the use of templates. In short: We've removed species templates entirely. Instead of picking three templates that loosely correlate to their characters species, you'll instead pick up to 9 advantages from the Glossary of Traits, and then a corresponding disadvantage for each.

We also now have a Custom Species page, a Spellcasting page, and a list of Species Examples showcasing updated versions of the old templates.

Converting Your Characters Over

November Announcements

Sunsetting SA Classic
As most people are aware, Starlit Avenue originally laughed as a V2 of an old site: Starlight Academy. We've kept that site up for those who wanted to go back and browse it, but keeping it up does come at a cost. Our domain registration expires mid-December, but the server will be going away at the end of the month.

If you have anything you want to back up off of Starlight Academy, please do so this month. It will no longer be available after that.

ICC Discord Thread Testing
Discord Threads and TupperBot now work hand in hand, and we see a lot of great opportunities with this. The staff are currently exploring how we want to implement threading, both in relation to events and private ICCs, but the general idea would be to allow for the start of a thread to include a brief summary / any content warnings (that could be updated once a private ICC is...​

Our first major feature launch is here: Badges. Taking the place of trophies (and medals farther back), we're rolling out badges for post count and time spent on the site. Launch Day Announcements

Welcome to the new SA!
Welcome to everyone from the old site... and moving forward, everyone joining SA for the first time! As of 8AM today, Starlit Avenue has officially launched. The forums are now free to RP in, characters can be made, etc. We encourage every member to fully read all the site's stickies, wiki pages, and lore, because there have been some changes and detailing them all would take all day. If you spot any bugs, please let us know over on discord's bug report channel. Similarly, if you have any suggestions (for templates or otherwise), there are channels for that too. We also have some stickies in the help forum (which is open to guests) for people wanting to make more involved requests.
