What happens when a protective dog spirit meets an oni? Sparks fly, apparently. Sometimes one of those sparks doesn't go out, but rather it grows and grows until it's become its own little storm.
Emiko, whether she intended to or not, was that storm for her parents. Her conception was the event that resulted in Brian Hadley being ejected from the Order of Longinus and- obviously- changed the direction her mother's life was taking. With how much of a mess the whole thing turned out to be it's no surprise that she's never met her father. In fact, Emiko is under the impression that her real father is dead.
How inconvenient, then, that she and her mother, out of the whole country, managed to move from Japan to the same town as the man that she was never meant to meet. Thankfully for her mother Emiko is far too preoccupied with trying to make a good impression at her new school to question if something's up about their new home.
