Marcel Luis Henri (ON-REE) was born of a large mixed Cajun/Creole family. He was raised respecting family, his elders, and especially the women and matriarchs of the family. That was his way of life. Behind closed doors, the Henris practiced an adapted version of voodoo that took in teachings/preachings from Haitian Voodoo, Catholicism, Hindu, and mixed in their own heavy dose of New Orleans Voodoo. Luis was closest to his grandmother, who swore he made a deal with the devil for his singing voice.
When Luis turned 20, his family had a knock on the door. His Grandmother answered the door to a demon panicked and on the run from a hunter. Letting the demon in, she agreed to safe haven for the demon until the hunter left.
Unfortunately, the hunter found the Henri house and confronted the family. Fear gripped the demon as it quickly grabbed Luis's mother and threatened to kill her if the hunter didn't let them leave. With no regard for the family, the hunter attacked the demon, killing Luis's mother immediately to get to the demon. A massive fight ensued, killing all but Luis and the demon. With a smirk, the demon left Luis there to die.
Luis reached out to his Grandmother the only way he knew how, through song. He asked her for help, for guidance. That was when his wounds began to close as he felt a familiar presence within him. His Grandmother reached back out to him, spoke to him, and guided his spirit to becoming an Oungan (voodoo priest) with her as his Iwa.
With no traditional initiation or apprenticeship, and nothing written down, Luis set off on his own. He vowed to protect those that couldn't protect themselves from both supernatural, and those that would hunt supernatural. Lack of regard for innocent life was the sin, and he was the judge. 5 years of travelling, Luis had made a small name for himself, some may have heard of him as The Henri Hex, depending on how connected they were.
Hearing repeated stories and news out of a small town called Polaris Pass, Luis set out to find out what was going on and made his way to town.
