Want to note something that was reported to the police? Want to mention a rumor that would be circling? This is the place! Whether it's gossip, news, or something more serious, please be clear about what is being spread. What's the information? Who would be hearing it? And if it's related to a specific thread, please link the thread so people can read for more context.

Do you want to see how things might play out based on what's happening in your characters story? Do you think it might make an interesting jumping off point for a site plot?

When posting a rumor or event, please mention that you're okay with the staff using it as part of a plot. Not every post may end up as one, but staff will use happenings as springboards with player permission.

La-La-LaBreakup?!
La La Labrys drummer, Aspen Frost, has been seen playing gigs with other local/Portland bands besides La La Labrys. The bands he's playing with are notably heavier rock and metal than what Triple L usually plays. Is there trouble with Polaris Pass most influential band? Is a breakup on the horizon? Or is Frost just looking for a little more than what the punk rock band offers?

Who can know: Anyone. Literally. Triple L are pretty popular and known so it would make sense.

Staff event: I guess? Dunno what you would do with it but go for it if so.

Explosion at the lakeside
During the early afternoon at the local town lake, an explosive device was discharged along the shoreline. Police inspected the scene, and were only able to find small remnants of the device, and have found it was mostly harmless. Local witnesses recounted a trio of individuals acting suspicious before fleeing the scene shortly after the device was discharged. Police are taking statements and investigating into the occurrence.

Shortly after the incident, a young bystander spun a tale of back-to-the-future epic proportions. Citing someone floating with a guitar and dark shadows, but many other witnesses attested against the fantastical tale.

Who can know: Literally anyone

Staff Event: Well seeing as it was staff led? its safe to assume its going to be used. :3

Last Stop Vandalism
Last night, around eleven PM according to pulled security footage, one of the display tables from the Last Stop's former days as a train museum toppled to the floor. Broken glass and damaged items littered the floor before police were called to the scene late thursday morning. At this time, it is believed that the screws supporting the table's legs gave way, causing the entire display to fall over. Though some believe this to be proof positive that the community center is haunted.

What actually happened is that the prodigal Haytham Kravitz, in a fit of anger, went to his former favorite place in Polaris Pass and, while invisible, flipped the display case over.

Who Can Know: anyone and everyone

Staff Event: I mean sure if you have some ideas.

Jersey Devil Sighting?!
A couple nights ago a student jogging late at night has sighted a monstrous creature carrying a deer fawn in their jaws while flying low, and barely missing the student in question. She then proceeded to discuss this sighting with others at the Cryptid Cafe and provided a description of the creature:
  • Larger than a sports car
  • Body similar to a bat, but with a long tail
  • Black like a moonless night
  • Appears to inhabit the forest
Coincidentally, Sonny Marshall's Massage and Acupuncture clinic has been closed all this time, and Sonny has been missing since.

Who Can Know: Effectively anyone, specially regulars at the Cryptid Cafe

Staff Event: If you got plans, that is.

Cat Beast Terrorized a Family?!

On the night of June 27th, the Haku family living in Polaris Pass reported to the police a very peculiar home invasion. The Hakus described a large feline beast, that broke into their home, threatened their daughter Diana, and even killed the family cat Tomomi. The cat beast escaped through a window, after the mother, Kanako, managed to cut two of its fingers off with a knife. This sighting was confirmed by several neighbours and passerbys, who saw a creature matching the description flee the victims' house. They said it was running along the rooftops until it disappeared into the night.

The incident appeared as an article at a local Polaris Pass newspaper, and Diana Haku is actively spreading the story both in social media and among the students of Cordelia S. Moore. She has also put up missing posters for the family's cat Tomomi in The Last Stop and other public places, and the posters explain the circumstances of Tomomi's disappearance.

Who Can Know: Anyone could've heard if they pay enough attention.

Staff Event: Sure, if you want to.

Cat Beast Terrorized a Family AGAIN?!

On July 3rd, the night of the full moon, the feline beast (that authorities have deemed to be a mountain lion) broke into the house of the Haku family yet again. This time the beast wasn't the only one injured. Diana Haku, daughter of the family, received a deep scratch on her forearm, and the father, Shuichi, was bitten and concussed. Before he was attacked the father managed to shoot the beast, and according to Kanako Haku, the shot hit the beast on the side before it bit and pushed her husband and fled through a window, breaking it in the process.
The Haku family has decided to leave Polaris Pass due to this incident. These two happenings have made waves, and managed to get a spot in a local newspaper again, and even in the local news.

Who Can Know: Anyone

Staff Event: Sure.

Everything Burns
Breaking news in Polaris Pass.

A suburban house rapidly went up in flames tonight, with multiple gunshots fired shortly after a neighbor first reported signs of smoke from the upper floors. By the time emergency responders arrived to the scene, the house was completely engulfed in stubborn flame, with the house's two inhabitants lying bloodied and unconscious on the front lawn. Reports, including community photos and videos, feature one red-headed man dragging another brunette man from the burning flames shortly before collapsing himself.

Very quickly, these men were identified as recent high school graduate & Dog Pound employee, Riley Davis, and his maternal uncle/guardian, Gilderoy Gulbrandsen. Both suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Roy was pronounced dead on-site, while Riley remains in critical condition, as well as protective medical custody.

Police reports suggest intentional arson, especially considering the nature of the shots fired into both men. Motives are currently unknown, but are undergoing investigation as police dissect the only surviving evidence from the destroyed house: the contents of a backpack worn by Riley at the time of the event. Recent legal filings also reveal that Davis was recently placed under an adult conservatorship, his long-time guardian Gulbrandsen to continue care, on the basis of severe mental illness.

Until a proper interview can take place, Davis is to remain in state custody... assuming, of course, he survives.

Local Tourist Destination's Prize Decoration Goes Missing

Ernest Engimas, a Polaris Pass tourist trap known for having many 'genuine' curios of the weird and supernatural, has recently reported its biggest claim to fame as missing.

The object, a life-size metallic doll billed as a recovered secret government spy bot, was not in its glass case when the owners arrived to open up shop two days ago.

A reward of one thousand dollars has been issued for anyone with information on who stole the doll and the recovery thereof.
